TELL ME WHY YOU ARE NOT REFUSING POLYTHENE BAGS?
Several people are propagating against the use of polythene bags for their disaster results. Its age for decomposition is more than 1000 years. Animals are dying and drains will get choked. I am propagating against the use of polythene bags since 15 years. I have printed posters, stickers and pamphlets. I toured several colleges. I gave speech at several gatherings. I am writing articles at several websites and sending e mails to many. Many TV channels propagated several episodes against the polythene menace. Many Municipalities banned against the use of polythene bags. Many newspapers published released special magazines on the polythene devil. Authorities are finding difficult to dispose the polythene waste as it is occupying huge space and reducing area of cultivation year by year.
Every year we are losing crores of rupees in importing crude oil for making these polythene bags. If you throw a plastic bag or bottle into the trash, it's going to stay in a landfill forever—for thousands of years. Yes! It is true. Still people are taking polythene bag and plastic bottle and throwing them in ponds and drainage's. Some people keep their domestic waste in colored polythene bag and throw it in the garbage or nearby drainage. To facilitate this mesh wall of several drainage's were broken. You can see it at several places. Why public are behaving like this? They know the consequences but not changed their behaviour. If we carry our own bags we can avoid polythene bags and save mother earth for future generations.
If you have answers to my query other than those mentioned below you can please inform me soon to enable me to address their grievances in my future effort. You or your relatives/friends may be taking polythene bags. The previous responses of public are….
1. We don't have enough time/money now. They spend much amount on cigarettes and phone bills.
2. We don't spare money on cotton bags.
3. It is impractical to bring cotton bags from home.
3. All others should also follow not alone by me.
4. Our youth doesn't like cotton bags and jute bags.
5. It would not solve the problem as pollution is everywhere.
6. It is government's job to implement ban plastic bags.
7. Start with your complimentary cotton bag first. I will buy after seeing its results. This response was given by persons drawing salary more than Rs.50000/- per month.
8. We cannot change radically.
9. We don't like these cotton bags they should be more attractive.
10. We can't go back and use cotton and jute bags.
11. All others say to use plastic bags to save paper.
12. Why can't you go and close the factories of polythene bags.
13. Why worry. The world will be destroyed soon.
14. I am not bothered about future. We cannot teach public. They themselves should learn.
15. I am taking polythene bags to dispose domestic waste and saving money.
16. You should not interfere with my personal matters. You can't teach old dog about new tricks.
17. The cotton bags should be at low cost. They know very much that cotton bags are available even for Rs.10/- which can be used for hundreds of times. and polythene bags are sold at Rs.3/- for single time use.
