| A big moment for the Safe Food Now campaign. Now help us win the final fight!
Dear Vikas Thakur,
The Environment Ministry has responded to your campaign and declared it's not going to allow the world's first genetically-contaminated food crop into the Indian market without a nationwide consultation. I think this is a good time to pat yourself on the back.
This has been such a hard, sometimes tiring and often thankless campaign. But don't underrate what you've managed to achieve.
Over 40,000 people just like you have managed to take on the entire packaged food industry in India. And you have managed to stall the contamination of India's fragile food supply from irreversible genetic contamination.
You've stopped genetic junk at the gates, but for us to keep it away forever, the gates need to be stronger, and higher.
Remember, Nestle has stated it's not selling genetically-contaminated food in India because local laws prohibit such food for now. But what if these laws were to change? What if the Environment Ministry said tomorrow that it's okay to force genetic junk down our throats? Will we be able to stop the Nestles of this world then?
I'm fully aware that battles against such giant adversaries – even though we be many, and they be few – are never won overnight. And that's exactly why we need your support, now more than ever.
Now go and celebrate what you've achieved, but also support us with much-needed funds to ensure that this win is not short-lived.
Thanks again for supporting the Safe Food Now campaign in all the ways that you have!
