GETTING BACK INTO ACTION
by Lucy West
"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe." Anatole France
"Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least." GOETHE
Activity:
If there is no activity, then there is no action. No action means your business/downline will do one of the following three things:
- Start losing belief in you as a leader
- Stand still
- Start falling apart
We are in the "leader see, leader do" business. In MLM you need to lead by example, so if you are not taking any action, most likely, neither will your team.
Here are some simple actions you can take:
- Pick up the phone--call someone and tell them about FFi.
- Hand out flyers. (If you need help we can always put a flyer together.)
- Place and ad in your local paper looking for people who are interested in a network marketing opportunity. It could say something like: "This is your opportunity to live your dream, own your own international business, and become financially successful. A new global company is looking for key leaders to develop a growing business in (your area or country). On-line and person-to-person training is available."
- Talk to people who you meet during that day. Practice your elevator pitch.
Communication:
FFi is an internet opportunity, so most of the communication is done via email and website updates. It is really important that either you or someone on your team looks two or three times a week at all of the emails sent from Corporate Headquarters. These emails contain information about FFi Universities, changes to shipping costs, new package updates, holidays, special events, and other corporate updates.
Make sure you are in email, phone, or webinar contact with your group. Or better yet, meet with them once a week. Being visible and showing that you are supporting your team is often what keeps a person from leaving and joining another company.
We have a saying here in the USA--"Take care of your customer, or someone else will."
Send birthday and motivational cards, or even just a thank you card. In some countries, consider motivating your team by rewarding them with gifts for positive actions they take with their FFi business.
Training:
Training is so important to the growth of your downline. If you are new and still learning about the business, ask your upline about training opportunities--keep going up line until you find someone who will help you. Set up a training timeline; this is your right to ask for help.
- Join the on-line training seminars.
- Watch the training videos in your Back Office.
- Read the training books like Road Map to Success.
- Listen to industry tapes and books.
- If none of the options above are available, call Corporate Headquarters and ask for help.
You have to train yourself first before you can expect to train others.
Information:
There is a lot of information available in your Back Office--especially under the Members Only section. Here you will find tools in various different languages, forms, videos, technical information, country updates, and training materials such as brochures and powerpoint presentations.
Information to a successful business is like water to thirsty man. We know from industry statistics that most people do not read their emails and if they do, they just skim over the text. To have an informed team means you have more people who are capable of sharing information. Gather the information you receive and share it in a way you feel will best fit your team, be it email, letter, phone calls or text messages or Skype.
As Albert Einstein once said, "Know where to find the information and how to use it –That's the secret of success."
Organization:
Managing a team of more than three people starts to require organization. The more organized you are, the more calls you can make and people you can help; being organized helps bring structure to your whole team. If your team knows when they can call you, when you are doing trainings, and when you are having family time, this helps save everyone a lot of disappointments and frustration. Many times, people work together in different time zones. There is nothing wrong with a leader sending a welcome letter the new Distributors in their organization with an outline of the team's activities, the types of support they are willing to give, where or who the experts are, and how to best contact them.
There are many tools available to help us get organized, if you have ever read the book, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People." Check out habit 3 "Four generations of Time Management." which clearly explains that every step we take to getting organized helps us towards greater control in our business and personal lives.
MLM is the epitome of organized chaos, so any chance you have to put some sort of normalcy or structure helps people feel safer and more secure. Most people who join direct sales are either still working in or have left the very structured corporate environment. You can imagine how strange it is to most people to have no timetable no schedule and very little structure.
Networking:
This is what we are all about and why we are a network marketing company. It means everyone, no matter how new or old, builds the business talking to people, thus creating a network. You should be prepared to do whatever it takes to network. Join clubs, call old friends, talk to family members, become chatty at the grocery stores. Complimenting someone is a great way to start a conversation. As the well-known author of children's books Dr. Seuss might have put it:
You can network on the phone
You can network in your home
You can network in the street
You can network while you greet
You can network in a box
You can network in your socks
You can network on your computer
You can network on a scooter
You can network in your car
You can network at any hour
You can network if you dare
You can network anywhere
Blessings to all,
Lucy West
